The Roman Catholic Church has identified some Nova Scotia properties it's ready to sell to pay for the settlement of a lawsuit in claims of sexual abuse. Rev. Paul Abbass, a spokesman for the diocese of Antigonish, says six parishes have land they're offering for sale.
Abbass says the assets don't include churches or other properties needed for day-to-day operations.
The church spokesman also says the churches themselves will have the first opportunity to bid on the pcroperties, but they aren't guaranteed of getting them back.
He says the sale of properties from the six parishes is another step in efforts to raise about $18 million towards the legal settlement.
Abbass predicts all properties should be on the market by the end of the summer.
