New catechism for England and Wales

A catechism for England and Wales is being developed for the forthcoming Year of Faith, Archbishop Vincent Nichols has said.

The Archbishop of Westminster was speaking in Rome during the European Congress for Catechesis, which ended on Thursday.

He told the Zenit news service that the Vatican's Year of Faith, which begins in October, would be used as a time to explore "more deeply" the content of faith.

He said: "We will use the catechism, we will use the YouCat [youth catechism], we are developing a catechism for England and Wales, and ... some dioceses will [go] back to the four main documents of the Second Vatican Council."
