Dr Martin was speaking ahead of the opening of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin today, the second time in the event’s history that it has been held in Ireland.
The event takes place once every four years and attracts thousands of participants from all around the world.
Dr Martin said the event is a chance to show the good that is being done within the Catholic Church.
