'Free Asia Bibi' protests

http://content.bandzoogle.com/users/FreeAsiaBibi/images/1235487.jpg?11Protestors are to mark the third anniversary of the imprisonment of Pakistani Catholic Asia Bibi with a demonstration outside the Pakistan High Commission in London on 14 June.

The Catholic band Ooberfuse has recorded a song (uploaded to www.freeasiabibi.co.uk) calling for the release of the illiterate mother of five, who was arrested and jailed after her fellow farmhands accused her of blasphemy after an argument.

In November 2010, she was sentenced to death, prompting Pope Benedict XVI to join the many voices calling for her release.

In 2011 Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti were both assassinated for supporting Bibi and opposing the blasphemy law.

In April the president of the Pakistani Christians Association, Zeba Gill, was allowed to visit her. Ms Gill reported that she was "scared" and meets her family less than the once a week she is permitted to, because of concerns for their security.
