US bishops' charity funded agency promoting contraception: news report

Catholic Relief Services (CRS), “the official overseas relief and development agency of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops,” has provided millions of dollars in funding to an organization that promotes the distribution of contraceptives, the LifeSite News service has reported.

In 2010, CRS provided $5.3 million to CARE, an international group that provides contraceptives to women in Third World countries and has supported measures broadening legal access to abortion.

Father Shenan Boquet, the president of Human Life International, told LifeSite News, that there was “no way to support CARE financially that does not also support the problematic work that they do."
