Vatican praises new song released by Dundalk singer and Dolan brothers

Karen and The Dolans’ musical evolution continues, and ‘Pray’ reflects this with a fresh, new country pop sound with a deliciously twangy arrangement and polished vocals, making this a radio friendly track.

It’s a new song specially written for the band by Nashville writer Rita Weyls.

Adrian and Ray Dolan performed with their ‘Uncle Joe’ for over 20 years and now are carrying on their family’s great showbusiness tradition featuring outstanding Dundalk singer Karen Karroll on vocals,

With a nod directly from The Vatican and The Dalai Lama’s office, ‘Pray’ looks set to become a popular song choice of the Pope and the Dalai Lama.

“We sent a copy of the song to the Vatican when we finished the recording” says Adrian, “and much to our surprise, a couple of weeks later we received a reply.

Not from the man himself, but from Dr. Richard Rous, official at The Pontifical Council for Culture at the Vatican.”

His reply: “You can tell it comes from the heart. I appreciate ‘Pray’ will touch many people.”

‘Pray’ is an original song. It’s lyrics and joyous melody suggests that a few minutes of reflection can help people forget those day to day worries for a while, and put things in perspective.

The song is not about religion, it’s more of a spiritual song from which something positive
can be taken, a song full of inspiration and hope.

Dr. Rous goes on to say, “I imagine it will lead people to open up to the Transcend. I’d hope too that it will lead them to reflection and prayer, which has its own arduous dimension of engagement in and for the world, not just escapism”.

The office of the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, India praised the track.

Tsultrim Dorjee said, “His Holiness, The Dalai Lama is away on tour in the USA, but will acknowledge the song upon his return”.

The national station RTE Radio 1 have also playlisted the song for the past couple of weeks much to the delight of the band.

‘Pray’ is taken from the forthcoming album due for release in 2013.

The band released their debut album in 2011, and were voted Best Country Pop Act at The Sunday World Music Awards 2012.
