Father Arnold Rosney, CC, Shannon has been appointed by Bishop Fintan
Monahan to be diocesan delegate to head up the preparations in the
Diocese of Killaloe for the World Meeting of Families which is due to
take place in Dublin in August 2018.
Bishop Fintan Monahan, Bishop of Killaloe, expressed his delight the
appointment of Father Rosney to coordinate the diocesan preparations.
He said, “I am delighted that Father Rosney, with all his considerable
talents, energy and enthusiasm is coordinating this important project at
diocesan level” according to Bishop Fintan.
“There is a very detailed
and comprehensive diocesan pastoral plan underway at present in the
diocese of Killaloe and the preparations for World Meeting of Families
will be an intrinsic part of the plan. Supporting families in the
diocese is very important to work of the Church in the diocese. I look
forward to working with Father Arnold and his team of collaborators who
will be appointed in the coming months in preparation for the World
Meeting of Families and for promoting family ministry in the diocese.”
Father Rosney is a native of Birr, Co Offaly. He was ordained in
1997, was awarded a JCL in Canon Law in the Gregorian University, Rome
in 1999. He served as curate in Ennis from 1999-2001, chaplain at St.
Patrick’s Comprehensive School, Shannon from 2001-2006. Since 2006 he
has been curate in Shannon Parish.
In 2008 he was appointed Moderator
of the Tradaree cluster of parishes, which covers Shannon,
Newmarket-on-Fergus and Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry.
In 2007 Fr. Arnold was
awarded a Master of Arts, Faculty of Law degree from the University of
Limerick.
Official Launch and Preparations for the World Meeting of Families
This Saturday afternoon, a special conference marking the Catholic
Church’s celebration of family and family life will be held in Dublin.
Guest speakers will include the co-chairs of the Council for Marriage
and the Family of the Irish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Eamon Martin
of Armagh and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin who, along with over
600 delegates, will participate in a special event to formally launch
preparations for the World Meeting of Families 2018 due to take place in
Dublin.
